COACHELLA DAY TWO REPORT: The highlights of this sunny Saturday were far too many to list, but two unforgettable moments stand out. (Photo by the lovely fellowette.)

1. Seeing Jeff Mangum sing under swaying palm trees as the sun fell behind the mountains was as surreal and wonderful as can be expected. Not that anyone a few years ago expected this would be happening.
2. Radiohead’s mainstage set, meanwhile, set a new bar for Coachella headliners in my eyes. They are simply the best live rock act in the world. I’ve been saying that for years (so has everyone else), but you guys, it’s really true! Still! I nearly lost my mind when Jonny Greenwood broke out a bowed guitar for “Pyramid Song.” Then I actually did lose my mind when they played “Lucky.” (And “Karma Police” and “Paranoid Android” and…) The King of Limbs-era material sounded stronger than ever, too, and be it known that new jam “Identikit” is approximately 1,000 times as mesmerizing in person as it was in the YouTube clips that have been circulating from this tour.
